Prepare your own Burmese lunch
Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda
Shwedagon Pagoda
Kandawgyi Park
We will start your morning off with a visit to a local market with an experienced chef. Here you walk through the market and wonder and marvel at the array of colours and smells learning about the various spices, vegetables and other ingredients used in Burmese cuisine as you buy the ingredients for your personal cooking lesson at Monsoon Restaurant. You will then get the opportunity you discover your talents as a Burmese chef and and enjoy your own prepared lunch.
In the afternoon, we take a short break at your hotel to rest and prepare you to visit to Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, which houses a 70-meter reclining Buddha. Located on Shwegondine Road, the pagoda was built in 1907 but it was destroyed after that. The statue was rebuilt in 1957.
Then, visit Shwedagon Pagoda, the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present Kalpa (Buddhist calendar). The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf. It is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.
From Shwedagon we continue to the bustling Kandawgyi Park. The park contains an artificial lake from where water from comes from Inya Lake. The water is channelled through a series of pipes to Kandawgyi Lake. It was created to provide a clean water supply to the city during British rule.
Dine and enjoy local bands with the locals who come to enjoy the fresh air. You will have good photos of illuminated Karaweik Royal Barge, Shwedagon Pagoda and surrounding Kandawgyi lake. Here you can simply walk, run, or relax. It is a romantic place to view the sunset which is a marvellous sight on a clear day.
